Privacy policy

Coach is a non-commercial training tool run by Mark Dennis ("I", "me"). This policy explains what data Coach collects, why, where it is kept, and how you can have it deleted. It applies to me and to any friend I invite to use Coach.
Who is responsible
Mark Dennis is responsible for your data. Contact: markdennis360@gmail.com.
What data Coach collects
Only after you connect your Garmin account and give permission on Garmin's own consent screen, Coach receives:
- Activities in any sport: summaries, laps, per-second records (such as time, location, distance, elevation, pace, heart rate and cadence), the device used, and original activity files.
- Your post-activity answers: Perceived Effort and Feel.
- Daily health summaries, if you allow them: such as sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate and Body Battery.
- Account details needed to run the connection: your Garmin user ID and the access tokens Garmin issues.
You may also enter data directly: your training plan, goal races, effort and feel corrections, illness, and travel (place, terrain and treadmill access).
Activity data can include location (GPS tracks) and health information. Coach uses it only for the purposes below.
Why Coach uses it
- To analyse your training: compare what was planned with what you did, and track load, effort and feel over time.
- To create structured workouts for you and send them to your Garmin Connect calendar.
Your data is used only to provide this service to you. It is not used for advertising, profiling for anyone else, or to build or train artificial intelligence models.
Who can see it
- Your data is visible only to you and to me as the operator who maintains the system.
- Your data is never sold, rented, shared or passed on to anyone else, including the other people who use Coach.
- Coach uses a small cloud service only to receive data from Garmin while my computer is offline. That service is Cloudflare (Workers), which processes data in its global network; incoming data is held there only until collected.
- I will disclose data only if the law requires it.
Where it is kept and how it is protected
Data is stored on my personal computer on an encrypted disk, and briefly on the receiving service described above. Access tokens and keys are stored in protected credential storage, never in source code.
How long it is kept
- While your account is connected, your data is kept so that long-term training trends can be analysed.
- Copies on the receiving cloud service are deleted as soon as they have been collected, and within 7 days at most.
- If you disconnect Coach from Garmin, or ask me to delete your data, I delete all of your data within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect at any time from Garmin Connect (Settings, then Connected Apps) or by asking me. Coach then stops receiving your data.
- Access or copy the data Coach holds about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete all of your data, by emailing markdennis360@gmail.com. I will confirm when it is done.
You have rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), including the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Coach is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, I will update the date above and tell current users directly before the change takes effect.
